Many Sudanese have found peace in Christ; pray that peace will continue

Sudan (MNN) — Sudan's history of war and devastation will hopefully end with this Sunday's referendum vote. The vote will determine if the country will split or remain unified.

Mission Network NEws has been urging readers to pray in the countdown to this significant decision. Today's prayer focus is for the children of Sudan.

A significant fear surrounding the upcoming vote is war. Some of the war threats have already been eliminated, however, as hearts have responded to the Gospel in Sudan. Biblica and its partners have shared one million Gospels of Luke in the country; they believe that as much as 80 percent of the South could be Christian.

One of the most important ways that Biblica is reaching out in the war-torn nation is to its children. This demographic is vital, not only because children are at an optimal stage to comprehend and accept Christ, but also because nearly 50 percent of the country's population is under the age of 18.

Biblica has programs including "Children 4 Christ" — a multi-day church-based program and resources for children in areas hostile to the Gospel; "Children for Christ Discipleship" — a three-month discipleship program to follow up "Children 4 Christ;" and "Bible Adventures" — a four-year educational curriculum to help children worldwide know Jesus Christ.

Biblica is making strides for the Gospel in Sudan. Most children they work with have alredy suffered severe trauma and horror in their brief lifetimes. Pray for a peaceful referendum so that their suffering might end and the Gospel might move forward. Pray that these faithful followers would cling to Christ no matter what the results of Sunday's vote are.
