Skateboarders and BMX riders point young people to Christ

USA (MNN) — An outreach DVD is bringing together an unusual cast of characters. The Luis Palau Evangelistic Association just completed the editing this week on a project that features actor Steven Baldwin as well 11 professional skateboarders and BMX riders. It’s called, “Livin It”, according to Kevin Palau of the LPEA.

It’s a ‘reality style’ video that puts together all the great skateboarding and BMX sports action. Palau says, “but, just as importantly all of the behind the scenes and the fun and just seeing the lives of these guys and how much they love the Lord and putting it together as a cool tool that junior and senior high students and college age and others would think as cool enough to give to unchurched friends and youth pastors to use as an outreach.”

According to Palau, this DVD could be a great outreach in the United States because, “more kids skateboard now than play baseball. So, it’s really growing in huge ways. It’s just a part of youth culture. It’s got great music to it and it has Steven Baldwin and it really is a lot of fun and share the Good News.”

There’s a 35 minute main feature that ends with a gentile evangelistic message. It also features the testimonies of the professional athletes and Steven Baldwin. “It’s designed with a lot of different components,” says Palau, “so that it can be used in different ways.”

“Livin’ It’ will be available on the Luis Palau Evangelistic Assocation’s webpage in April and in stores in May.
