TWR teams up with OM to give power banks to Ukrainian refugees

Ukraine (MNN) — Trans World Radio (TWR) and Operation Mobilization (OM) have teamed up to give power banks to refugees in Ukraine. These devices can replenish phone batteries when stable electricity is not available.

Frank Stephenson says, “The partnership is great because OM contacts we don’t, but we also have things we bring to the table that they can’t.”

So far, the two ministers have printed 1,000 power banks and each has taken 500. Stephenson says, “OM will distribute them in their channels in these countries: Poland, Hungary, and Romania, and then probably Moldova and Ukraine too, depending on where they see the needs. We as TWR also have 500 of them. We have some contacts with Ukrainian fellowships and church groups.”

Refugees benefit greatly from working phones, and the power banks also come with QR codes pointing to both TWR and OM. A lot of TWR programming in Ukraine deals with the realities of the Russian invasion and can be accessed through social media on a phone.

One TWR program, called “Why Do Innocents Die?” got almost 30,000 views. Another program, called “How to Live After Rape,” got a similar amount of engagement. And one TWR producer filmed himself giving a heartfelt message while on his way to dig trenches in the early days of the invasion. That video went viral, garnering almost 6 million views.

Pray many people will encounter the love of Jesus through these power banks. Stephenson says, “It’s meant to be a gift, both practically and a spiritual gift as well.”
