Youth raising awareness for the persecuted church

USA (MNN/OD) — The PUSH is on!

Underground, the youth outreach of Open Doors USA with Brother Andrew – the oldest ongoing ministry to the Persecuted Church, is sponsoring PUSH90 this summer.

The 90-day event seeks to raise awareness, prayers and funds for the estimated 200 million Christians around the world who suffer persecution because of their faith in Jesus Christ. Young people from across the United States are being urged to get involved and make a difference.

“PUSH90 is a terrific project for youth groups or for individuals,” says Underground coordinator Jeff Shreve. “It provides a great opportunity to apply the message of the Persecuted Church to young people over their summer break and gives them practical ways to get involved. Through their prayers and donations they will be able to impact those suffering throughout the world. Recent news from the Persecuted Church – from Nigeria to Iraq to Colombia – makes it imperative we act now!”

Shreve suggests the following steps of involvement in PUSH90:

1. Sign up as a Citizen of the Underground at www.undergroundusa.org.
2. Check the Underground web site for the latest updates from the Persecuted Church.
3. Pray daily for our brothers and sisters for the rest of the summer.
4. Commit to fast at least one meal a week for the next 90 days.
5. Tell your youth group and/or church about what is currently taking place among suffering Christians around the world.
6. Commit to give a donation to Open Doors USA to help send Bibles and other Christian materials as well as provide training to persecuted Christians.
