By February 25, 2004

USA (MN)–Cornerstone University will host its third ESL Ministry Conference, “Across the Street and Around the World” on Saturday, March 20th, 2004.

The event is organized by Dr. Michael Pasquale, assistant professor of linguistics, and is designed to introduce churches to the possibilities of establishing a program for teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) for greater outreach and spiritual impact in their community.

Teaching English as a Second Language is an effective way for churches to reach for Christ local people who have come here from all over the world.

It meets the pracical need in the lives of recent arrivals to learn English, enabling them to become active members of their new community. It also provides church congregations with opportunities to create and nurture relationships with these people and to share with them the love of Jesus Christ.

There will be special emphasis on preparing short-term ESL missions teams. ESL is used in many countries by missionaries and church-sponosred short-tem missions teams to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The ESL Ministry Conference is being held at Cornerstone University, 1001 East Beltline Ave., NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Saturday, March 20, 2004 from 8am – 4pm. Conference cost is $40 per person. For more information call 616-949-5300 ext. 1378.
