Democratic Republic of Congo (MNN) — For the first time in nearly a year, a plane has landed in Kama, Democratic Republic of Congo. Grace Ministries International is praising God for the place because it delivered one-thousand pounds of medicines and supplies for their hospital there.

Kazakhstan (MNN) — Christians are wondering about religious freedom in that mostly Muslim nation. Bible Mission International’s Malcolm Smith is there now and says there’s a rumor that the government is toying with the idea restricting it.
Vietnam (MNN) — A Bible translation organization says they will be able to publish and distribute God’s word in Vietnam. Richard Loh is with the World Bible Translation Center and says this is a milestone for the organization.
East Africa (MNN) — Bible narration is a tool being used to lead people to Christ in an East African nation. An American missionary says teaching nationals in this country to read, isn’t always the answer.
Israel (MNN) — A new Palestinian leader won’t make it any easier for Christians. Yasser Arafat has announced his nominee for Palestinian prime minister. Ahmed Korei could replace Mahmoud Abbas, who resigned Saturday. Voice of the Martyrs Todd Nettleton says he doesn’t believe his appointment will mean any change for Christians in the region. “The Palestinian Authority obviously doesn’t like Christians. And, they particularly don’t like Muslims who become Christians. And so, the persecution is likely going to continue against Palestinian Christians regardless of who’s in charge.”
USA (MNN) — Meanwhile, as the United States remembers the second anniversary of nine-11 this week, an organization that supplies Bibles is helping emergency workers deal with future catastrophes. In partnership with World Relief, International Bible Society’s Suz Hyde says they’re releasing the book, “Building The Mosic”in New York on September 11th. “We found that many times people wanted to serve out there on the front lines serving, but no one was caring for them. This books is an attempt to come along side the relief worker and help to direct them back to God’s word — the food and the strength and energy they can get from God’s word in order to serve others.”
Russia (Forum 16) — After police broke up an open air Baptist evangelistic service in southern Moscow, a court ruled on 11 August that the singing and praying disturbed public order and peace. Church members say this is a normal part of life for their church, which refused to register with authorities.
Suriname (MNN) — A Suriname national is helping equip a tribal people group in his country share the Gospel. Perry Smit is working with World Team. Smit says even though the Trio Indians don’t have the complete Bible in their language, they’re committed to spreading the Gospel. “They just have the New Testament and still they’re going beyond their own village and to the neibhboring countries to bring the Gospel to other tribes.
