Story number 4 for 25 Dec 2000

By December 25, 2000

And, we conclude today with a look at Christmas in an orphanage in India. Ramabai Mukti Mission’s David Scott describes a typical Christmas celebration at their orphanage. “Many of the children that have come of course come from Muslim and Hindu homes and some Buddhist homes. And, they’ve never really experienced a Christian Christmas. It’s a real eye opener for them. The children are divided up into families, different families – they have flower names. And, what they do on Christmas is they go Christmas caroling to each other’s families and the staff as well. They of course decorate their home and for many of them, of course, it’s the first time they’ve heard of Jesus Christ and the birth of Christ and what that means. And so it’s a real discovery time for them to learn.”
