Hurricane Rita brings another international group home

By September 26, 2005

USA (MNN) — First it was Hurricane Katrina. Now Hurricane Rita. These natural disasters in the United States are drawing groups, who typically focus on needs overseas, back home.

Strategic World Impact is launching into an unprecedented domestic disaster response effort. After years of international focus, SWI believes the time has come for them to leverage their experience by also assisting the local U-S churches in a strategic response for a strategic spiritual harvest.

SWI says they’ll be using the experience in short-term trauma counseling and long-term rebuilding work providing resources to churches to reach out to the hardest hit areas. The goal is to be as comprehensive as their international work physically and most importantly spiritually.
