Iraq (MNN) — Iraq headlines today’s news as the United States is asking the United Nations to take a more active roll in peace keeping in the region. Despite the lack of peace, Christian organizations like Food for the Hungry are helping with physical aid. Food for the Hungry is currently distributing more than $700,000 worth of medical assistance in an effort to share the hope of Christ.

Middle East (MNN) — Latin American Christians say reaching the Islamic world with the Gospel is a top priority for them. Because of that CAM International is doing all it can to help facilitate that urgency. CAM’s Keegan Williamson says Central America, once a mission field, is now a mission force to the Muslim world and they’re more effective. Support is need to help this outreach explode.
Egypt (MNN) — SAT-7’s Christian production studio in Cairo, Eqypt literally came through the fires of tribulation to emerge as more refined gold this week. The broadcast center was destroyed one year ago taking with it some 400-thousand dollars worth of equipment. The studio is now fully operational.
USA (MNN) — The need for full time missionaries is still great and the Finishers Project is doing all it can to recruit new workers. Nelson Malwitz is with the Finishers Project. He says while there is a need for preachers and teachers, needs also exist in computer, administration and construction. Malwitz says they’re holding a Finishers Forum October 24th and 25th in Charlotte, North Carolina to help recruit new workers.
Myanmar (MNN) — Missions work continues in Myanmar despite a myriad of hardships. According to Christian Aid Mission, many believers must be extremely careful as all mail is subject to censorship or confiscation. Inflation is making living there difficult and many are concerned about the rainy season, now facing that nation. Last year many people contracted a serious flu virus. Liberia (MNN) — We begin today in Liberia where chaos continues to reign as the country attempts to begin anew. World Vision’s Kevin Cook is in Monrovia helping distribute food aid all in the name of Christ. He says non governmental organizations are staying in Monrovia because violence by rebel forces and goverment malitia continues.
USA (MNN) — A missionary aviation organization is facing a 240-thousand dollar budget short-fall heading into their fiscal year end, September 30th. Mision Aviation Fellowship faces a $250,000 shortfall as their fiscal year ends September 30.
Latin America (MNN) — The sounds of happy children will soon replace the cries of anguish so many had heard before in Central and Latin America. Food for the Poor’s project to deliver 11 million pounds of powdered milk is well underway in churches, hospitals and schools according to Food for the Poor’s Angel Aloma.
Mongolia (MNN) — 59 young people with Teen Missions International made a spiritual significance in Mongolia recently. Three teams were trained in Bible, evangelism and basic construction. They worked on three different projects and many turned to Christ.
Russia (MNN) — The Russian government is talking about restricting late term abortions in that country. Many people are hailing the news, as abortion is used as contraception there. Buckner Orphan Care helps care for orphans in Russia, and was recently given accreditation for adoptions. Buckner’s Amy Norton says she supports the move, but Christians will have to get more involved.
