Violence in Iraq isn’t just focused on foreign workers.

Iraq (MNN) — “It’s an answer to prayer for a tyrant like Saddam Hussein to be gone. It’s only good news for freedom,” says President of Food for the Hungry, Ben Homan. Many Christian relief and development groups continue to see Saddam Hussein’s capture as positive news for their work.

However, Homan says this has done little to curb the attacks in Iraq. “The terrorists are targeting not just the relief and development organizations (and) not just Christian organizations, but they have also moved into targeting Iraqi families and that very much creates an understandable terror in the lives of the Iraqi people.”

Homan says FHI is partnering with the local church and they’re not going away. “What we’re trying to do is to empower those churches to be more effective, to be positioned in their communities as powerful examples of people on the ground in Baghdad that the church cares about people whether they are Christians or Muslims.”

Pray that many will come to Christ as a result. Pray also for the safe of workers there.
